Selfish and evil boyar Tugar gets the rights on the land of one of the Carpathian villages. He believes that the local people who are used to being free and independent, are now his property. After losing the to the locals, he asks the Mongolian army for help, promising profits to them. Now local people, farmers and hunters, led by the brave and courageous Zakhar Berkut must face the Mongols in a fight for freedom. Meanwhile, love starts to bloom between the elder's son Maxim and the boyar's daughter Myroslava.
