A Spring for the Thirsty

A parable-like film about an old man, Levko Serdyuk, who lives in a postwar village and takes care of the local well used by fellow villagers. Despite his efforts, no one appreciates his work — the villagers mock him, and his family has abandoned him: his wife has died, one son was killed in the war, and the others have moved to the city and want nothing to do with him. Left alone, the old man reminisces about the past, dreams of reuniting with his sons, and prepares for death. However, when his family unexpectedly returns to the village, he symbolically rises from his coffin. Against the backdrop of this personal story, the village itself begins to change: the familiar rural rhythm is disrupted by the arrival of modern technology — electric poles, an iron windmill, a plane in the sky.
