This series of nine short films blends contemporary dance with architecture across five countries: Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, France, and Ukraine. Each film offers a unique exploration of how the physical structures around us—often overlooked in our daily lives—interact with the fluidity of the human body, inviting viewers to rediscover the architecture of different eras and regions.
From the windswept coastline of France to the historic arenas of Latvia, the films reveal how architecture, often perceived as static and unyielding, becomes a dynamic partner in the dancers' expressive journeys. The Tallinn Cruise Terminal in Estonia and the avant-garde architecture of Les Étoiles in France transform into spaces of introspection and daring, as dancers challenge the confines of societal norms and explore the complexities of human relationships through their interactions with these environments.
In Lithuania, the National Drama Theatre and the Palace of Marriage serve as stages for stories of transformation and identity. At the same time, in Ukraine, the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Library becomes a site for experiments with gravity and space.
Throughout the series, nature and architecture intertwine, as seen in the glass walls of the Arvo Pärt Centre in Estonia, where the boundary between inside and outside dissolves, creating a surreal environment where dancers seem to float between reality and illusion. The films also delve into the emotional resonance of spaces, such as the Riga Circus in Latvia, where the arena's storied past becomes a metaphor for the chaos and beauty of love.
Through this project, viewers are encouraged to see architecture not just as a backdrop but as an active participant in the stories we live and the spaces we occupy.
