How Can One Not Love You 4.0
How Can One Not Love You 4.0 consists of five stories about the city of Kyiv. This is the capital of a country where, despite the war, life continues in all its manifestations. A city that records itself on film and VHS, hides rivers under asphalt, and hosts concerts in garage cooperatives. In this city, youth play indie music in Podil, and lovers choose to return home rather than stay in Paris or Berlin. There are places here that are disappearing and people who are no longer around, but there is also a cinema that remembers everything.
To celebrate Kyiv City Day, the online cinema Takflix presents How Can One Not Love You 4.0 — a new collection of short films about Kyiv spanning from the early 2000s to the present day. The selection includes: Paper Troubles by Bohdana Smyrnova (a student film shot on celluloid); The Snail Effect by Dmytro Burko (a musical exploration of the contemporary indie scene); Landslide by Oleksiy Radynski (an urban documentary about the Podil underground); Kyiv – Berlin, through Warsaw, Modlin by Dmytro Marianych (a drama about returning from emigration); Lybid by Vladyslav Kovtun (a lyrical urban sketch).
